Open Meeting 2020 postponed

Due the outspread of coronavirus / SARS-CoV-2, the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece regrets to announce that the annual open meeting and lecture scheduled for March 12th will be postponed. Switzerland is, as Greece, directly affected by the outbreak. The Federal Council has issued the suspension of large public gatherings and restrictions on international travelling, also in relation to universities. A new date for the event will be announced as soon as possible.

Speakers: SE Olaf Kjelsen (Swiss ambassador), Karl Reber (director of the Swiss School) and Antonio Loprieno (Former Director of the University of Basel).

Venue: National Hellenic Research Foundation, 48 Vas. Constantinou, Athens.

The fieldwork of the Swiss School in 2019

Karl Reber, director of the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece, will present the School’s fieldwork in 2019:

  • Amarynthos (Euboea): excavations in the Artemision
  • Eretria (Euboea): excavations in the Gymnasium
  • Kiladha (Argolid): underwater survey near Franchthi cave
